The original "Old Soldiers' Home" website was founded and managed by Lt. Col. Thomas W. Cohoon (Ret.) until his death in the summer of 2006. In creating that site, Tom gave this as his purpose and intent:

"While this Web Site was established by the men of the U.S. 88th Infantry Division, Trieste United States Troops (TRUST), and British Element Trieste Force (BETFOR) who stood shoulder to shoulder against another aggressor in another time and place, all Old Soldiers are welcome here to share memories or to look up an old comrade. ..."
